Grassmarket Hotel, Edinburgh

good location good price

Our experience was not good. It was old, dirty and there was a huge leakage under the bed. We were transfered to a much smaller room, with a defective shower without any compensation. Luckily the Edinburgh town was perfect, so we did not make any fuzz. We will not come back and surely not recommend the hotel to friends.

Convenient, adequate and reasonably priced, if a bit cramped and in need of refurbishment in some areas.

Great location for royal mile. Rooms clean and well equipped. Hope to book next year for tattoo. Would recommend to a friend

The location of the hotel is excellent. Its in the heart of the city and 2 minutes from the Royal mile thus making it very convenient. The hotel room was clean and decent. The towels and bedsheets appeared to be clean enough and we didnt have any complaints. The breakfast is served in a Pub and we didnt feel like going there. The room was spacious and there was a TV and a dressing table and a wardrobe. The heater was okay as it was summer however it may not be sufficient in winters.

This is set in the Old Town of Edinburgh which the main area for shops, pubs, and sights. Unfortunately the street is undergoing construction but the Royal Mile is only up the hill. The room was clean and sufficient. My reason for giving it an 8 was because it was like a maze getting to the room and they do not provide wifi in your room. I would definitely recommend this place!

Very practical hotel in the perfect location for a night out in the Grassmarket. This Hotel represented excellent value for money. The rooms were clean and the beds very comfortable. Breakfast next door at Biddy Mulligans was more than adequate and overall we were delighted with our stay. My partner intends booking rooms for her hen night next June.

Location of the hotel is superb. Service is OK. Front side rooms are noisy due to many late night pub visitors at the Grassmarket. Rooms are OK but bed and bathing facilities need an update. No restaurant nor bar inside the hotel. After all: value for money!

You can't get closer to the heart of Edinburgh than this, so it's worth putting up with the very basic rooms and the rather tired state of the decor. My room at the back was very quiet, and the bed was clean and comfortable. On arrival I was told that breakfast didn't start until 9.00 but when I made a fuss they seemed to have no trouble in serving a fine cooked brekafast at 7.30!
