The hotel was booked via Yeego for two nights, mid March, slightly out of season. The qouted price seemed value. We are always looking to various travel means throughout Turkey. The reason this hotel was chosen was it was stated to be 4 star,in its location, a previous review commentated on the run down area. It is also close to Basmane rail station. Its true the area could be described so, but we found the people to be industrious and polite, with goods considerably cheaper, and a quality lunch to be had for two for 30, 40 lira. There were several "night clubs" on the route from the hotel to Basmane, but never once were we harrassed, neither at any other place either. Out of interest we were trying a travel plan out; train to Bandirma from Izmir, and then fast sea ferry to Yenikapi Istanbul. The price of the tickets for two was 75 lira, including the ferry. The train was spanking new, as was the ferry. Anyone travelling regularly on UK trains needs to take this journey, to see how it is done. Please book your tickets before to ensure seats during season. Other parts of Izmir would not be out of place anywhere in the world for shopping. We arrived at at the hotel a day early, and were in difficuly in trying to repeat the Yeego rate for the extra day. However, the porter, in that slighly back to front way Turkey has, was listening to my attempts in Turkish to obtain the same rate for the extra day, the male receptionist would not budge on the price, and would only speak fast Turkish, the porter's head swiveling between myself and the receptionist slipped off to find the manager who appeared to offer us the extra night at 80 Euros, 165 Lira, which we accepted. The hotel was excellant, the staff, friendly and obliging, the room, spacious and comportable, clean. The bathroom was five star. Breakfast fresh and as much as you could eat, self service. The view from the room's window was of a clothing factory behind the hotel, and I would not leave my car there, but there was some limited parking at the front. As we always travel via the excellant public tranport systems Turkey has, we are not affected by this. Overall the hotel was excellant. We really enjoyed our first stay in Izmir. DLS UK.

Spacious rooms and pleasant bar. Staff very helpful. Did not eat in restaurant but breakfast was adequate. Car parking limited. Not in the best part of Izmir, but for the price it was good value for money and would use again.

all service is good, the only negative point is about cleaning. You don´t have to look under or behind your bed if something falls down,there is a lot of dust.And in the bathroom: shower and WC aren´t so clean as you wait... The personal in desk reception is very kind and helpful. If rooms were cleaner it will be a very nice good hotel.I think that Cleaning of Bathroom is a big problem all around Turkey.

Unfortunately the Aksan hotel was not up to a four star standard that my travellers expected. There was no air conditioning in the rooms which were too hot and stuffy. It was a very noisy hotel with lots of traffic in the corridors which went on through the night. Would definately not stay there again. Vivien Dagley

The hotel wasn't qualified a 4 star. It was a bordel,a hoocker place. On the night of september 11 was all night long bacanal and noise. Althoug we asked for the receptionist to have a look at the messy. Nothing worked properly, refrigerator, tv, shower, tab and lights. The personal did not give a representative service and worst of all the opened my conserve of caviar that i've asked to put in the refrigerator from the kitchen. this was a terrible experience. The food was tasteless and very expensive regarding the quality. We will never use that hotel anymore and we will tell everybody about it.
