Marin Princess Hotel Kumburgaz, Istanbul

Nice hotel. Excellent beach.

A nice size room with a good view of the sea. The staff was friendly and helpful. We appreciated the open buffet meals when they were offered. The food was good, but we would have appreciated some fresh fruit at breakfast. We wish that the air in the pool/exercise area would have been less stuffy. The hotel is located a distance from the city center (Istanbul), but it wasn't a problem for us since we were there as a get away.

There are a number of things you have to be weary of with the Marin Princess Hotel. First of all, despite the claim on the Yeego site that all rooms have a balcony, they don't. Not only that, some of them don't even have a window that opens, so you are at the mercy of the air conditioning system that blows in hot air, however cool you set it, and no way of getting any air into your room, other than sleeping with the door left ajar, with the safety catch on. Secondly, no one speaks English. There are usually one out of 2 or 3 reception staff who speaks a little. Either because of this or may be it's just the way, you have to be careful with your bar orders. 1 Gin and Tonic can turn into 2 double G&Ts easily, and then it's hard to explain you didn't order a double and you certainly didn't order 2, as there is only one of you. If you want to order room service, make sure you go downstairs and order it through the one English speaking reception staff. Otherwise, you can wait 2 hours for your order, and everytime you query (even with the reception man) it's as if they have never heard of you. I had to cancel mine at 2 am when I had ordered it at about 11:00 after a long day. Then just after I had finally got into bed, the food came, knocking on the door for a very long time. I have to say, I was so angry, I had to ignore it, or there would have been blood, if I had opened the door. Finally, but by no means the last or least of the problems, is the didtance from Istanbul. If you have gone there to see Istanbul, then this hotel isn't for you. At best it take 1 hour, and at times 2 to drive from the Hotel into Istanbul. So the tendency is to go early in the morning and return late at night, making the days really too long to enjoy. The only thing I can say for it, is that the breakfast is good. The evening meal also appeared good, but I never managed to eat there, because I was always getting back from Istanbul, or having my room service order ignored for 2 hours. The buffet evening meal is quite expensive.

The room has NO balcony as described in your advertizing. No internet conection in the room (only at the Loby ). No English sspeakers at the Recep[tion Desk ??? Food , swimming pool and Hammam Excelent.NO hotel shutells at resonable hours
