| Hotel Royal Ramblas. Check in and out smooth, no probs. English speaking friendly reception staff, got us a taxi back to airport very quickly. Location superb at top end of main st La Rambla, 1min walk from major metro station Catalunya. Got "superior" room on 5th floor with view of main st, no street noise at all when windows closed - excellent soundproofing. Air-con lovely, allows widows to be kept closed so room is cool and quiet! Clean room (very slightly tatty but this is really being fussy) and nice tiled bathroom. Shower not powerful, and once or twice had temperature fluctuation but certainly not a "bad" shower at all. Maid service very good, soft and thick towels replaced every day, rooms cleaned well. Breakfast not included but we did try it one morning (9 Euros, buffet) and thought the food was quite good considering it's a buffet. There was cold: cereal, various breads, cheese, jam, sliced meats, and hot: bacon (delicious!!), mini-sausage, egg and coffee and teas. Would definitely go back for another breakfast! All in all a clean, quiet, friendly hotel with great location and good buffet breakfast. |
