we ( married couple) have travelled and lived overseas extensively during last 23 years or so. However, I doubt we have ever had better hotel staff than those of the Tartani Hotel, Piran. Plus, the hotel itself is very comfortable and roomy, and the breakfast is excellent. But it was the staff who were the most impressive component of the Tartani experince. They spoke excellent English, were more than usually helpful and were very friendly and acted with great sense of humour always. And--they should do a film on the beautiful lady in charge of breakfast; she is priceless! The Tartani is very centrally located within walking distance of everything in this small town. You are right on the delightful town square, with the small harbour adjoining. Terrific restaurants and very quaint buildings and walways make this a wonderful destination fr a few days---far better than the more ritzy but disappointing Portoroz.

Delightful surprise to find a hotel is everything it claims to be. It was in the best position looking over the main square and had a lovely view of the harbour too and the sea. The decoration inside had been given over to detail. A relaxed atmosphere. The room was a good size with a modern en suite bathroom. The furniture in the bedroom was delighful. Just right.

For the location I would have preferred a more traditional interior. Very much geared to the business traveller rather than tourist. Self service breakfast fine, but would like to have seen a member of local staff serving tea/coffee rather than machines. Staff friendly and helpful, although attempt to have a tv supplied to our room were not resovlved by offering another room, surely it is possible to move a tv from rooom to room.
