Hotel Splendid, Belgrade

room ok, breakfast not very good, omelet but no butter and jam;why should we have to pay for butter and jam? People of the hotel not very nice. But the hotel is very nicely located:public parking is very convenient, so we re rather satisfied.

The location is perfect, close to a. the pedestrian area b. the city hall and the Serbian parliament building c. a city park The view (at the front; looking towards the city hall) is nice and the price is ok. The employess are friendly as well. But ... the whole description of the furnature in the rooms and breakfest room can only be described as oldfashioned (probably seventies). This is probably because of the regime that ruled here until a couple of years ago, or because there are not much western tourists coming to Belgrade. The furnature is so different from hotels in Berlin / Paris / London / etc. But hey, it was the only disappointment :-)

I've stayed in 5 hotels in Belgrade at this point...I chose Splendid this time for its location near Pioneer Park, which has excellent access not only to Terazije but to Aleksandra shopping district. That's the good part. The bad part is the rooms are tiny and mine was filled with mosquitoes and small black flying insects, very old tired furnishings. Other hotels with the same level of amenities are cheaper.

Rooms were adequate for a one night pit stop but were from a different age. Desperately needs to be brightened up. One room had problems with the shower and a very noisey air-con system. Overall, rather drab.

Location great, in front of the Parliement and minutes from the restaurants and attractions. But the staff had hard times with the English language, also the room is very small, the air conditioning was not working well which is terrible as it was 30 degrees outside, bed small and uncomfortable. Breakfast fair.

The staff were polite. However, they gave us a room with aircon by mistake and wanted us to move just as we settled in or pay the difference. We were pressed for time so stayed in the room. We didn't use the aircon but were still charged for it. The shower curtain was torn, pillows were filled with great big lumps of something. Clean sheets every other day. Having just come back from Cuba we found that with much less resources the Cubans did a better job.

I had a nice few across the snow covered park. The room was adequate, and the bed comforable. I would stay there again.
