| when we arrived they said we had booked a double room. I refused that and requested a twin which we ordered. The bathroom was a disaster - no x-pelair working, no place to lay any personal wash items or make-up around sink, window could not be opened we tried to force it but thought we would break it,the toilet was stuck in a corner with barely room to get on it and I had difficulty reaching the flush. Unfortunately it was the next morning when we went to shower that the most of these problems became evident. There was no complimentary bottle of water in bedroom, no space beside or opposite second bed to lay any items. The only table in room was in the opposite corner for the other guest to use. The bedroom was extremely dark even with the lights on. We had great difficulty opening the window and it took the two of us to get it up a little from the bottom for air as weather was hot and no air conditioning. Service in restaurant extremely slow on the second night even though the number of guests was very small. They insisted on keeping us waiting for a table even though it was practically empty. This was definitely not a 4 star hotel and we were very disappointed. i did fill the comment sheet left beside the bed on leaving but I wouldnt have much faith in expecting any response from them. We did enjoy the city of Edinburgh otherwise and I would return but not to a hotel like the Hilton. |
