This hotel has smallish rooms, but was an excellent choice. For the fit, it is within walking distance of everything, and for those not- taxis are cheap. It is on the highest hill, so walking is always up and down steep hills on Portugese cobblestones(slippery marble squares) After traveling to Belem one day we were too tired to walk up the long hill from Cais de Sodre train station (literally down the hill), was going to take a bus, but instead took a taxi. Turned out to be 2.3 EU - cheaper than the bus and well worth the fare. Lots af restaurants nearby in the Bairro Alto area, and within walking distance ( downhill) to Restauradores, an area packed with choices in a flatter section. The breakfasts are great and the service is wonderful. Bathroom was small, but immaculate. Though on a busy square, rooms were quiet with a view of the water also. It is close to all the main shopping areas, and on the 28 tram.

Outstanding service from all of the staff. Fantastic location, we had a room facing the main square. Only negative point was that the room was quite small.

Hotel Bairro Alto in Lisbon is fantastic. Everything was wonderful. The best place to stay in Lisbon.

Beautiful rooms, first class friendly service, great very central location. Ideal hotel for special break with beautiful roof terrace overlooking River. Even supplied an umbrella when it rained.

The rooms (Deluxe double ones at least) are very nice. Excellent bed, really nice bathroom. The hotel (as well as the rooms) has a great design. It proposes a really cool roof bar from which you can enjoy amazing views of Lisbon. The restaurant is great as well : very nice breakfast (the hotel will charge you 20€/person if you want it to be served in your room!!!) and good diner.
