Nearby is the town of Peniche, which as late as the mid-16th century was an island in the Atlantic. Close by is Caldas da Rainha, famous for its spa which, with its warm sulphurous pools, was used only by of noble and royal patronage for four centuries. The "jewel of the crown" is Óbidos and its medieval castle, only 15 minutes from Praia D'El Rey.

DIRECTIONS: As you leave the airport you will come to a large roundabout with traffic lights. Take the first available exit on your right-hand side off this roundabout. (Signed “2ª Circular”). This will bring you to an urban motorway. Within 1.5kms, take the exit with the blue motorway sign indicating A8 Loures/Leiria. Follow the signs towards Torres Vedras, Lourinha, Bombarral, Peniche, Obidos and Caldas da Rainha, continuing on the A8 motorway for approximately 73kms. Leave the motorway after the toll, at Exit 13 signed Peniche. Immediately there is a T-junction, turn left. Follow for 2kms , then drive under a bridge and take the next left again signed Peniche. Follow this road for 9 kms until you reach the village of Serra D'El Rei. Turn right at the town centre. There is a large blue panel indicating Praia D'El Rey. Follow this road for 1.5kms and take a right at the turn signed Praia D'El Rey. Follow this road for 4kms, which will bring you to the resort main entrance
