| The Scandic Byporten is superbly situated in the city centre at Oslo Central Railway station. You can walk directly from the airport express train to the hotel without going outdoors. The central location is an excellent base for visits to all parts of Oslo, with trains, buses and taxis at the hotel entrance. Oslo's famous Karl Johan Street starts right outside Scandic Byporten. | Guests are invited to enjoy a delicious breakfast buffet served every morning in the hotels breakfast room. Restaurant Egon is part of the Norrein Group, a company of hotels and restaurants in Norway. Egon is the perfect place to enjoy a good meal in an informal atmosphere. As a guest at Scandic Byporten you can of course charge your restaurant bill to your hotel bill. The hotel lobby is a popular meeting place for our guests. Our younger guests can enjoy Sigge's playroom, while adults can relax in the adjacent lobby bar where various beverages and light dishes are served. |

| Smallish rooms but efficient, environment concious, nice staff, perfect location for walking and public transport, excellent breakfasts. |

| After staying at the Scandic Continental in Helsinki, I was very excited to stay at the Byporten. However, the rooms did not have the same warmth - both literally and figuratively. While the staff of Byporten was extremely friendly and helpful, I would say that I would try another Scandic hotel if I were to return to Oslo. |

| Room was rather small and over warm, which necessitated opening a window to traffic noise. Having stayed in several countries over the years this was the only hotel/motel that did not have tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Perhaps this is a Norwegian tradition? Breakfast in the adjacent restaurant was superb. The hotel staff were very helpful. |
