The american is located in an excellent location, in a beautiful old building,with an art deco facade. The hotel is very pleasant, the service is great, friendly and efficient. The concierge and the desk people are well informed and helpful.
In fact i probably should have rated it as 10, except there is always some room for improvement. We will recommend it and hope to come back.

Rooms were very comfortable and quiet. Hotel bar was superb with excellent friendly service. Used Restaurant for breakfast only, but it was very good!

American Hotel location is fantastic and service great! Generally, rooms are nice and comfortable but Cleanliness is the worst I ever seen - stockings and tissue left over by previous occupant not removed from day 1 I moved into the room, despite telling them to do so. Always forgot to place towels enough for 2. Rooms are noisy because of floor boards and thin walls. Every night you heard water leaking sound. I would not stay in this hotel anymore.

Very nice hotel, however, on Monday morning they had major construction going on that started at 8AM! I usually party at night, so having to wake up at 8AM was unacceptable! I complained at the front desk, but they didn't care.
Staff not very helpful, I would the they are quite snobbish.
