The Hotel Ara Pacis is a charming three star hotel that was built in 1800. It is located in the historical, artistic and economical center of the city of Rome, only a few minutes away from the major cultural place such as the Vatican City, St.Peter, Castle S.Angelo, the Vatican Museum, Sistine Chapel, Spanish Steps, Piazza Navona and the Pantheon. The River Tevere is only a ten minute walk from the hotel.

Apart from its stratefic location, there is hardly anything to commend this hotel. Its entrance was unmarked on the third floor of an old building. The tiny room was made worse by a cracked toilet seat and an exposed flushing unit. There was some construction going on that woke you up quite early and there was very little porterage assistance..and the telephone did not really work unless you repeatedly asked for it.

The only good point about this hotel is its location, near the Vatican. Otherwise, it is rather run down and difficult to find (on the 3rd floor without any indcation). My single standard room was tiny, with a bathroom whose toilet has a cracked seat and a string that hangs out of a broken wall panel to pull the flush. Needless to say, I had to ask for help to deal with the flush but could not change the room. When I came back a couple of nights later, they were going to give me the same horrible room. Obviously, my complaint did not get throught. Also, there were no real help, the breakfast room maid had to double up as a porter and so on.Besides, there is actually construction work being carried out and one gets woken up about 8 am.In one word, review your three star rating.
