| This hotel is very well appointed and is used by a number of coach companies for their Christmas market tours. Consequently breakfast will see lots of people all trying to get their meal at the same time in order to catch their coaches. Suggest that you have a lay in before attempting to get breakfast as the staff cannot clear tables fast enough. The bar is often unattended for long periods, even during the early evening and a couple of times we had to get someone from reception to call a member of staff for us. This hotel is just a bit too far from the Christmas markets for my liking but worth the price. Dinner was OK even thi=ough the wine list is poor. The 15 buffet is good value. |

| The Novotel Cologne is an acceptable hotel. The room was very clean and spacious, but insufficiently soundproof, as I could clearly hear conversation in the hallway as well as indistinctly television from the adjacent room(s). The bed was comfortable and furniture in very good condition. The internet connection was not free, which would be expected for a hotel in this price range, and was to be billed in unexplained "units," making the charges difficult to understand. The location is mediocre; it is about a 15-minute walk to the city center, but there are few restaurants in the immediate vicinity. The service is very polite but not exceptional. The one outstanding feature was the breakfast, which was a very nice buffet. |
