| We stayed in the Forest Hill Hotel for 4 nights. The staff in the hotel were pleasant. But we were glad that we were only staying for 4 nights! the rooms were "supposidly" refurbished a couple of years ago! The bed was so low to the floor, you felt you were almost sitting on the floor! the ceilings were very high and it felt like a prison. The bathroom extractor fan didn't work - so everywhere was steamed up (this was in both rooms - so i guess it's for the whole hotel). There were beetle type bugs in our room, don't know where they came from? the lighting in the room was so very dim, you could hardly see anything, the mirror was nowhere near a light, and there was not adequate storage space (wardrobes/drawers etc.) We were disappointed that there was no tea and coffee making facilities in the room. The good points about the room/hotel - FREE car parking (excellent! if you can find a space, which we managed to do), rooms seemed clean, there was a fridge with mini-bar, safety deposit boxes free of charge at reception. The breakfast was lovely - massive choice - some of which were: boiled eggs, poached eggs, sausage, bacon, yoghurts, fresh fruit, fresh fruit salad, croissants, pastries, baguettes, bread, toast, cheese, ham etc. teas, coffee, fruit juices - could not complain at all and it was eat as much as you can! We did eat at the Hippopotamus restaurant, which was part of the hotel on two occasions - the first evening the waitress was lovely, very friendly and helpful - we enjoyed our experience totally, and went back the next night - only to find a different waitress, who said she couldn't understand us (we don't beleive her!), we ended up with food we hadn't ordered, and no food which we had ordered - a nightmare, and we would not eat there again! |
