Having had the booking downgraded fron deluxe room to superior room the day before departure we were apprehensive. On arrival the superior room was found to be a recently refurbished room and was of a good and acceptable standard. However after a very hot & uncomfortable first night we realised that the air conditioning was not working. We reported this to reception the following morning & were told that the summer was over and the air conditioning had been turned off.The hotel receptionist did offer to see what could be done. Later that day, it was obvious that nothing had been done and a further complaint was lodged with reception, to no avail. We spent the rest of our 6 night stay sleeping with the windows open, but were generally unable to sleep well due to traffic noise which did not cease until the early hours of the morning and recommenced at about 04.30.We are aware of several other residents in the hotel who had complained about the lack of air conditioning. There requests were also ignored. The standard of food in the hotel restaurant was good but the tables were positioned very close together. Apart from the newly refurbished rooms on the 6th floor, the hotel had a generally tired appearance internally. Presumably the refurbishment work will be continuing throughout the hotel, but it has a long way to go.

We received a room with a broken mattress base. It faced the backside of the hotel and it was noisy during very early morning hours(5AM). The room was clined a daily bassis but we had to ask for shampoo. The breckfast is good but it will be nice to change it once in a while. The location is great. The staff was kind and responsive

Booked this 4* hotel for its location in Nice. Reception, ground floor and corridors were of a 4* standard but the rooms were not. I had booked two rooms. Both were filthy and fitted with 1960's style furniture which was dilapidated. I immediately complained to reception who claimed that these were their 'Classic' rooms. We were shown a total of six other rooms which were no better before (after persistant polite complaining) eventually being moved to much better rooms on another floor (which the hotel said should have been 30 euros extra per room per night!). We discovered that renovations were ongoing in the hotel on floor 5 but were not made aware of this at time of booking. Hammering and other building noises commenced early in the morning. I am aware of another guest who also complained about his room and eventually left the hotel after being shown 3 other rooms which were no better than the first. DO NOT GO TO THIS HOTEL.

The hotel is very well placed for shopping, visiting the old town, the Promenade and also the Bus Station. The room in the hotel was fine everything one would expect to find in a four star hotel, the decor was abit dated. The room was very warm as the air cond. was not available as it was not Summer, this neccessited that we leave the window open, which meant it was extremely noisy. Breakfast and service in the hotel was excellent. I would use this hotel again, but would request a room in a quiet location.
