I really enjoyed my stay at the Hilton Kalastajatorppa Hotel, in Helsinki. It isn't in the centre of the city, but it is a very short and convenient tram ride (getting Tram 4) away from the central area. The tram stops at the bottom of the road, about 3 mins walk from the hotel. The room and ensuite were top notch, and the staff were very friendly, and generally very prompt in their assistance. There is a computer room which I found helpful for looking up my train connections. The pool is small, and was very cold when I was in it, but pleasant, with Amazing views out onto the sea. There was only one thing that I didn't like about my stay- the hotel restaurant in the Seaside Wing, was hideously overpriced in my view. I paid almost 30 Euros for a bowl of pasta and one small glass of wine. Additionally, the parmesan cheese that was brought for my pasta was mouldy. I wasn't overly impressed, and would have expected a Lot more for my money. However, it might suit a business traveller, and the views from the restaurant were stunning. Worth noting also, there is a pleasant little cafe a few steps down the beach from the hotel, near to the tram stop, and it served well as an alternative to the hotel restaurant. Breakfast in the main restaurant was exquisite, lavish and everything I would have expected from a 5* hotel, and more. Overall, I'd recommend this hotel wholeheartedly, I really enjoyed my stay, but I would advise travellers who want value for money to avoid the Seaside Wing restaurant.

The hotel was fabulous with a great view of the sea. The breakfast was excellent!! and hotel staff were very pleasant!! Its not in the downtown core, but Helsinki tram system means its a 10 minute tram ride gets you downtown easy and quickly. Its worth the view and gives you the vacation feel while still have access to the city.

It's all in the details... I thought Hilton Kalastajatorppa was a five-star hotel, but at which five star hotel would there be a crack in your shower glass, broken window on your balcony, a remote control without batteries, a light bulb out in your bathroom, an extremely expensive internet connection, aside from ONE computer in the whole hotel, hidden in a locked room on the ground floor. But of course these are just a few minor details. Over all my stay was wonderful, the location suited me because I was in Helsinki for such a long time (I wouldn't want to waste a whole hour per day traveling back and forth from the hotel if i were only staying for three days). The surroundings of the hotel are so beautiful, I almost choked up the first time i got there. My room faced the seaside wing and was specially reserved for the cheap Yeego-deal. Smoking room but didn't smell like it.
