It was very nice to stay in this new hotel what has been a former prison. This was extra fun! Rooms, service and breakfast where good. Location of the hotel is nearby the harbour, market place and some other site seeings. By tram (stop near to hotel) easily travel to Helsinki center. Disadvantage: if you come by car rather expensive parking at hotel.

The hotel was opened approx. a year ago and prior that it was completely renovated. In our view the renovation was done in a very professional way as the old flair was kept. The rooms are compared with many other 4 star hotels large and comfortable. The service at the lobby is friendly and professional. The hotel is very quiet. The bar and restaurant are located in the cellar which at least in the winter times gives a very nice atmosphere. We did not eat at the hotel but the menu card looked fine and it had a nice spread of dishes. The prices are OK. Even though the hotel is not in the center of the town, it takes only approx. 20 - 30 minutes by foot to the central shopping area through the nice Helsinki market at the harbour line. The other option is the tram connection which takes appr. 15 minutes. Compared to many other hotel experiences, we can warmly recommend this hotel to other guests.

being a retired judge, i felt it was time to finally spend some time in prison, and i could safely say that this former one bears no resemblance to real life ones which i have seen on study visits, not even swedish ones. it seems, however, that it would have been a bit cheaper to book the room with the hotel directly!!

surprisingly cheap choice for 4*-hotel like this! room was absolutely fabulous, the atmosphere in hotel was somehow autentic prison-like, but still very modern and comfortable. location may seem not the best one on the map, but only 8 minutes walk to the very centre. liked that !
