You should travel from Split, Drvenik, Ancona and Pescara by ferries or catamarans, which are the only way to come to the island whether you come by car, train or plane (except your own boat). | In a wonderful location just on the outskirts of Hvar Town, the Amfora was a fabulous choice. The building itself is plain and lacking much character, but the rooms were excellent with tasteful touches and the staff was very helpful. Mostly, though, the ease of walking into town OR taking a boat to one of the nearby islands makes it a place to definitely return to. Hvar Island is such a gorgeous place and needs more than just a two-day visit. |

| The hotel was reminiscent of a seventies James Bond movie - old stylish retro charm and everything was clean, staff didn't have the most amazing customer service but Croatians are new to the game again after years of war so it's to be expected. There was a power cut for almost an hour one night and no one seemed to know what was going on - there didn't seem to be a back up generator and they didn't have enough candles to give any to the guests! Good location though and I would go back there again if only for the fact that there isn't much else hotel-wise in Hvar. |
