Nikkey Palace is located in the Liberdade (Japanese area) of Sao Paulo. Although the area is a little run down (but safe) it is close to the centre of the city and the metro. Breakfast served here is of good quality, also supplying Japanese dishes, and my room was clean and neat with modern finishings and satellite tv. Also a good internet area is available in the foyer (prepaid card system from reception.) I found the hotel very acceptable for the price, though try and get your laundrey done elsewhere; though it is done well, like many hotels it was rather expensive. I found it was a good idea to ask for details about my room, such as large bed, view, and room floor before I took the room key so they could change me to one that met my requirements, thus not ending up with any old allocated room.

The London Othon Flat Hotel is centrally located in a neat, clean and safe area of Sao Paulo, with a 5 minute walk to bustling Av. Paulista and nearby cafes and restaurants, and slightly longer to several metro stations. For value this hotel is great as I was supplied with a 4 room apartment for the advertised price, which was in a condition-state of average to good. Included was satellite tv, kitchen with basic utensils, stove and mini bar,lounge room with sofa, a/c and balconey. Before you accept the keys to your flat or room (which could be the case) check as to what they are supplying you, double bed, flat or single room, a/c, etc. Asking for specifics can often get you a better room at the same price, which is what I have learnt from experience. Things to watch out for: Same old standard breakfast menu can become tiresome after 5 nights here, the single computer for internet access in the foyer is not only expensive but in need of a new hard drive, save money and get your laundry done elsewhere as they seem to have a policy of charging more for the washing than what the clothes are worth, a thing which 3-stars should not do, and be careful of the at-call taxi rank at the front of the hotel as my driver told me at the end of the journey that he wanted 50% more than the metered price for the pleasure of me having him sit out the front of this hotel reading his newspaper; expensive when you are making a 45 minute trip to the airport....please confirm this with reception first. Most of the staff were lovely and helpful.
