Hotel Scandinavia, Brussels

We stayed only for one night, so , in fact, there could not be anything too disturbing for us. It is in a multicultural area (Anderlecht), only 10 min walk from the city center, which was really convenient. Concerning the safety of the area, we did not feel any danger (we returned from the center to the hotel at 22.30-11.00 at night). The room was old and shabby but sheets and towels were clean. Breakfast was adequate regarding the price that you pay and the reception desk was kind and helpful. Furthermore the hotel is really close to the Midi railway station which is very useful too.

The area is not quite safe although close to the metro station. The breakfast was OK for a 3 star hotel. However, the staff was very unfriendly. Especially the so called manager was a very very rude man. I would like to tell you what happened on our last day at this hotel. I asked the man at the reception to change 20 euros into coins. He gave me 2 10 euros and 5 2 euro coins which was in total 30 euros. I told him that he had given us 10 euros extra and he should take it back. I understand that his english was not good but he was too ignorant and problematic to understand that I was just being honest. Although I tried to give him his 10 euro cash back he started yelling at me, which was because he thought I was asking for more. When I insisted that he was wrong and that was his money, he said that he was the hotel manager he didn't want a discussion in his hotel. He put us in a position that we were trying to rob him while we were just being honest for his favor. Moreover he just throw the 20 euro on the table and said that "the discussion was over" that we should take all the money because he didn't need it. I have never been humiliated that way ever in my life. It is so disturbing to see that this hotel's staff treats people as if they are invaders and enemies. I don't believe that you would ever encounter this kind of behavior in any other 3 star hotel. Don't ruin your holiday, pay a little more and stay in a more comfortable environment where customers are treated as guests.

You cannot complain concerning the price. The staff was very friendly and answererd every question. The neighbourhood is a little bit rundown. However it is close to the centre.
